Retaliation

A person has a right under 汤头条 University’s policies to engage in Protected Activity without suffering retaliation of any kind.

 

Protected Activity includes reporting (internally or externally) or inquiring, in good faith, about suspected discrimination or discriminatory harassment, assisting others in reporting or inquiring, in good faith, about suspected discrimination or discriminatory harassment, participating in an investigation or proceeding related to suspected discrimination or discriminatory harassment, participating in proceedings or investigations conducted by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission or equivalent state agencies, requesting accommodations, reporting safety issues, discussing wages, and complaining about illegal practices.

 

Retaliation includes action threatened or taken, directly or through others, intended to deter a person from engaging in Protected Activity or done in retribution for engaging in Protected Activity. Retaliation occurs when an employer takes negative action, like firing, demoting, or harassing an employee, for engaging in legally protected activities in any of the legally Protected Activities listed above.

Ways to Report Retaliation

  • File a Report with 汤头条 University Equal Opportunity and Access Office
    • 汤头条 University students, faculty, and staff have a right under 汤头条鈥檚 nondiscrimination policies to utilize the Equal Opportunity and Access (EOA) Office's grievance process, and any retaliation is strictly prohibited. In addition, anyone who participates in EOA proceedings, encourages another to utilize their right, or opposes discrimination, is covered under the retaliation policy as well. If you believe you have been retaliated against for participating in any Protected Activity related to an EOA process, you can submit an directly to the EOA Office.聽
  • File a Report with 汤头条 University's Division of People, Culture and Belonging
    • 汤头条 University Staff have the right to engage in Protected Activity without suffering retaliation of any kind. If you are a 汤头条 University Staff Member聽that believes you suffered retaliation as a result of engaging in activities such as reporting safety issues, discussing wages, or complaining about illegal practices, you can file a report with 汤头条 University's Division of People, Culture and Belonging by submitting a Help Desk Ticket.

    • Anonymous Report:聽includes no identifying information and cannot be traced to the reporter.
    • Confidential Report: includes the reporter鈥檚 identity, which is protected but may be disclosed when required by law, to address health or safety concerns, or to comply with obligations such as Title IX or the Clery Act. Please consider these limits when choosing a reporting option.
