<\/span>Am I required to live on campus?

Yes. All unmarried undergraduate students must live in residence halls on campus. Authorization to live elsewhere (Greek chapter houses and off campus) is granted at the discretion of the Director of Housing Assignments and Operations in special circumstances or when space is unavailable on campus.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/span>When do I apply for off-campus authorization?<\/div>
\n

<\/span>How does Housing and Residential Experience determine who is granted off-campus authorization?<\/div>
\n

A random selection process (a lottery) is used to determine which students will have their requests for off-campus authorization granted.\u00a0 Please visit the Off-Campus Authorization website<\/a> full details regarding the 2026-2027 off-campus authorization process.\u00a0 HRE is no longer considering requests for 2025-2026 off-campus authorization.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/span>Can I apply with friends for authorization to reside off campus?<\/div>
\n

Yes.\u00a0 New applicants are permitted to form off-campus roommate groups with up to three (3) other students from the same class cohort.\u00a0 Properly matched roommate groups will either be granted authorization or denied authorization as a group.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Do I have a greater chance of receiving off-campus authorization if I form a roommate group?<\/div>
\n

No.\u00a0 Forming a roommate group simply links you together with your requested roommates for the random selection process (lottery).\u00a0 Since roommate groups can only be formed within the same class cohort and all members of the class cohort have the same number of lottery points, the lottery point average of an individual applicant is the same as the lottery point average of a roommate group.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/span>Can my roommate group include students with different seniority\/class cohort?<\/div>
\n

No.\u00a0 Roommate groups must be comprised of students from the same class cohort.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/span>If I am granted off-campus authorization, can I still participate in the on-campus housing assignment process?<\/div>
\n

Students who receive off-campus authorization are allotted a period of time to decline their offer.\u00a0 If students decline their off-campus authorization, they can participate in the on-campus housing assignment process.\u00a0 Students who accept their off-campus authorization will not be permitted to participate in any on-campus housing assignment processes.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/span>If I apply with a roommate group and we receive authorization to reside off campus, do we all need to accept the offer?<\/div>
\n

No.\u00a0 We recognize that plans can change.\u00a0 Offer acceptances and declines are managed on an individual basis; therefore, if you apply for and receive off-campus authorization as a group, one or more members of the group can decline the offer without impacting the rest of the group.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/span>Will Housing and Residential Experience help me find a place to live off-campus?<\/div>
\n

Students with off-campus authorization are responsible for securing their own housing.\u00a0 Students are welcome to utilize the Off-Campus Housing Service<\/a> to search available listings in the area.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/span>I plan to study abroad\/take a leave\/participate in an internship for the fall semester. Should I still apply for off-campus authorization?<\/div>
\n

Students who decide to study abroad, take a leave of absence, or participate in an out-of-town internship for the fall semester will forfeit their off-campus authorization for the entire academic year and will be required to reside on-campus for the spring semester should they decide to return to ÌÀÍ·Ìõ.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/span>I receive financial aid. How will my financial aid be impacted if I am authorized to reside off-campus?<\/div>
\n

Students currently receiving aid who have questions about how residing off campus will impact their aid are strongly encouraged to reach out to their Financial Aid Officer.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/span>I plan to graduate in December. Will graduating at the conclusion of the fall semester give me higher priority in the authorization to reside off-campus process?<\/div>
\n
