These awards also recognize efforts that encourage members of this community to engage in a life-long pursuit of excellence in personal and social development.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000\">Applying for an Award<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Award applications are now live until February 8 at 11:59 pm! Students may apply for <a href=\"https:\/\/anchorlink.vanderbilt.edu\/submitter\/form\/start\/706904\">individual awards<\/a> and\/or <a href=\"https:\/\/anchorlink.vanderbilt.edu\/submitter\/form\/start\/706905\">organization awards<\/a> in Anchor Link.\u00a0 Please note that these applications are now separate on VALE&#8217;s Anchor Link Page.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Every spring semester, 汤头条 students may apply for Individual Awards and Student Organization Awards through our Anchor Link Application. A nomination for an award is not necessary in order to apply. Qualifying applicants are welcome to apply for multiple awards, as long as they meet the award criteria, which will be clearly labeled under the \u201cWho Can Apply\u201d section on the application. You can also review the Individual and Student Organization Award descriptions below. If you have not set-up direct deposit, please login to your YES account to sign-up. Casey is best remembered as a dedicated and selfless leader who inspired excellence and propelled others to join in her commitment to serve. &nbsp;Casey&rsquo;s vitality, warmth, compassion, and boundless enthusiasm served to energize and enhance each of the many campus activities in which she was involved, including student government, student media, Greek life, and Impact. &nbsp;Her passion for facilitating friendship and camaraderie for a higher purpose, for promoting service to all and helping expand the horizons of the &ldquo;underdog,&rdquo; earned her the lifelong gratitude and admiration of her 汤头条 community. An adventurous woman of good character, tenacity, and insight, Casey Carter Bonar rose to top positions in the arena of national and international finance. &nbsp;She was a world traveler and a caring philanthropist in addition to being an active member of the Alumni Association Board, often interviewing prospective students and organizing alumni activities in various national venues, Casey was proud of her 汤头条 education. &nbsp;She exemplified Cornelius 汤头条&rsquo;s vision of strengthening the ties that bind as she consistently reached out to make someone&rsquo;s life better.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\r\nThis award was established in 2010 to honor the memory of Casey Carter Bonar. &nbsp;Based on the legacy of extraordinary leadership she left behind, this award is presented annually to a 汤头条 <strong>graduating senior<\/strong> who embodies the unique qualities that Casey brought to the university &ndash; leadership, broad collaboration, enthusiasm, passion for campus involvement, selfless service to 汤头条, and, always, dedication to positive change. &nbsp;The student who most exemplifies the sparkling point of light that was Casey Carter Bonar will be selected as the award recipient.&nbsp;<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<!-- END PANEL * ID 5386 -->\n\n\n\n<!-- NEW PANEL ITEM * ID 5387-->\n\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\" role=\"tab\" id=\"heading5387\"><h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a name=\"\" role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion\" href=\"#item5387\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"item5387\"><i class='pull-right fa fa-chevron-circle-down' aria-hidden='true'><\/i>Glenn & Elizabeth Bogitsh Award<\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"item5387\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading5387\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><p>In 1989, this award was established in memory of 汤头条 alumni Glenn Carlisle (B.S. &#39;77) and Elizabeth Norris Bogitsh (B.S. &#39;82) in order to recognize high standards in physical fitness, participation in recreational sports, and sportsmanship. This award is given annually to a 汤头条&nbsp;<strong>undergraduate or graduate student<\/strong>, who has best demonstrated a strong commitment to campus recreational programs and, by example and leadership, has inspired participation and sportsmanlike conduct in these activities. James Lawson Award for Campus and Community Leadership<\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"item5388\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading5388\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><p>The Imani Award honors the Rev. James Lawson, who served as a faithful and determined leader in the African-American community during the Civil Rights Movement and is still very active today, including teaching here at 汤头条. Imani is the Swahili word for &ldquo;Faith.&rdquo; Funded by the Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center, this award recognizes a&nbsp;<strong>graduating senior<\/strong>&nbsp;who has continuously been an integral part of campus life and has demonstrated an outstanding capacity for leadership and devotion to 汤头条. The senior recipient receives a monetary award and a trophy to commemorate the award.&nbsp;<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<!-- END PANEL * ID 5388 -->\n\n\n\n<!-- NEW PANEL ITEM * ID 5390-->\n\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\" role=\"tab\" id=\"heading5390\"><h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a name=\"\" role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion\" href=\"#item5390\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"item5390\"><i class='pull-right fa fa-chevron-circle-down' aria-hidden='true'><\/i>McGill Awards<\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"item5390\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading5390\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><p>These awards are presented through the generosity of the McGill family in honor of Dr. John T. and Lizzie Allen McGill who provided students with an atmosphere of hospitality and guidance through their years at 汤头条. A graduate of 汤头条 in 1879, John McGill spent his life in service to 汤头条. He served as professor emeritus of chemistry, Dean of the School of Pharmacy and finally a historian of the University.&nbsp;Students may apply to multiple McGill Awards.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>The John T. &amp; Lizzie Allen McGill First Year Awards&nbsp;<\/strong><em>(Two First Year Students)<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Established in 1994, these $1,500 awards are given to two academically accomplished first year students of gentle bearing and strong character who have shown kindness and respect for all others and who have established qualities of leadership. Award winners have demonstrated academic accomplishment and leadership in creating a more welcoming campus for all.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>John T. McGill Award<\/strong>&nbsp;<em>(1 McGill Residential Project Member)<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Established in 1960 by Lizzie Allen McGill, this $2,000 award is presented in memory of her husband, John T. McGill. This award is presented to a McGill Hall resident who has established qualities of leadership, as well as being a good student of gentle bearing. Award winners have actively participated in the McGill Project, achieved academically, and demonstrated leadership in creating a more welcoming campus for all.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>The John T. and Lizzie Allen Upper-class McGill Award&nbsp;<\/strong><em>(A student from either McTyeire or Mayfield)<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Established in 1994, this $1,500 award is given to an upper-class student of strong character for academic accomplishment and leadership in creating open and honest dialogue about complex and controversial issues. The award winner&rsquo;s efforts have led to an increased understanding of other students&rsquo; needs and a more civil campus.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>The John T. and Lizzie Allen Upper-class McGill Award&nbsp;<\/strong><em>(Any upper-class student)<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Established in 1994, this $1,500 award is given to an upper-class student for academic accomplishment and leadership in creating open and honest dialogue about complex and controversial issues. Chaffin Scholarship<\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"item5391\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading5391\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><p>We invite eligible students to apply for the Nora C. Chaffin Scholarship, which was established in 1956 by the Women&rsquo;s Student Government Association in appreciation of the former Dean of Women&rsquo;s twenty years of service to 汤头条 women students. All 汤头条&nbsp;<strong>juniors<\/strong>&nbsp;who have displayed service to the University in areas of student government, religious, literary and scholastic activities in the arts are eligible to apply for the Nora C. Chaffin scholarship. Asbury Award for Interfaith Dialogue<\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"item5392\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading5392\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><p>Reverend Beverly A. Asbury is an outstanding person who served 汤头条 University with honor and distinction for nearly 30 years as chaplain, Director of Religious Affairs and as an adjunct professor at the university&rsquo;s Divinity School. In addition to his involvement in civil rights since his youth, Rev. Asbury brought to 汤头条 a sense of life, commitment and tolerance that changed the culture on campus forever. Reverend Asbury has also contributed his knowledge and expertise as a founder of the 汤头条 Holocaust Lectures, 汤头条 Martin Luther King, Jr. Series, the 汤头条 Holocaust Art Collection, and Project Dialogue. Working with students of different faiths, traditions and races, Rev. Asbury would build All Faith Chapel to give a space for diverse and welcoming worship on campus. A true humanitarian and bridge builder, Rev. Asbury brought together students, staff, faculty, and the community in conversation when it was needed most.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Undergraduate students<\/strong>&nbsp;whom exhibit the mindset of Rev. Asbury in work towards interfaith dialogue are encouraged to apply for the Rev. Beverly Asbury Award for Interfaith Dialogue. Because two of her friends&#39; caring went beyond sympathy to watchfulness and action, Meredith survived. This award honors those women who enhanced the character of their community by reaching out to help another in need. This award is available to any 汤头条 <strong>undergraduate student<\/strong>&nbsp;whose act or acts have an impact on a community in a lasting way.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>All too frequently we perceive ourselves as existing in isolation, in denial of the community around us. In doing so, we devalue that component of community that has the potential to make us great--the humanity we share with one another. A great community enriches us all by making us see beyond ourselves, sometimes saving lives, sometimes negotiating a successful path from divergent ideas or catapulting us over common obstacles to an overlooked solution. This award celebrates singular actions or &quot;Ripples in the Pond&quot; that create connections, acknowledge our humanity, and thereby advance our community, one-to-one, group-to-group, inside to outside.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The &ldquo;Ripple in the Pond&rdquo; described must have taken place within the current academic year (including the past summer). The recipient is only eligible for the award one time.&nbsp;<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<!-- END PANEL * ID 5393 -->\n\n\n\n<!-- NEW PANEL ITEM * ID 5394-->\n\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\" role=\"tab\" id=\"heading5394\"><h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a name=\"\" role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion\" href=\"#item5394\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"item5394\"><i class='pull-right fa fa-chevron-circle-down' aria-hidden='true'><\/i>Robert Peter Pratt Memorial Award<\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"item5394\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading5394\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><p>The Robert Peter Pratt Memorial Award was established at&nbsp; 汤头条 University in 1991 to honor Robert Peter Pratt (1954-1991), Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions and long time leader in promoting diversity within the student population. This award is presented annually to a&nbsp;<strong>Chancellor&rsquo;s Scholar of junior or senior standing<\/strong>&nbsp;whose accomplishments best exemplify Robert Peter Pratt&rsquo;s commitment to&nbsp; diversity and unity, leadership and cooperation, warmth and openness, and unselfish service to others. This award carries a modest stipend.&nbsp;<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<!-- END PANEL * ID 5394 -->\n\n\n\n<!-- NEW PANEL ITEM * ID 5395-->\n\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\" role=\"tab\" id=\"heading5395\"><h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a name=\"\" role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion\" href=\"#item5395\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"item5395\"><i class='pull-right fa fa-chevron-circle-down' aria-hidden='true'><\/i>Rob Roy Purdy Award<\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"item5395\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading5395\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><p>Rob Roy Purdy was a Chaucerian Scholar and a leader in student affairs during his long career at 汤头条. He demonstrated compassionate commitment to the holistic education of our students, a sense of humor, and the embodiment of our institutional values for faculty, students and staff. This award was established in 1979 to honor the Senior Vice-Chancellor Emeritus. The recipient of this award must be a&nbsp;<strong>sophomore, junior, or senior<\/strong>&nbsp;who demonstrates, through leadership, the qualities of humaneness, dedication, loyalty, &amp; unselfish service to 汤头条 University&mdash;characteristics exemplified by Rob Roy Purdy.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<!-- END PANEL * ID 5395 -->\n\n\n\n<!-- NEW PANEL ITEM * ID 5396-->\n\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\" role=\"tab\" id=\"heading5396\"><h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a name=\"\" role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion\" href=\"#item5396\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"item5396\"><i class='pull-right fa fa-chevron-circle-down' aria-hidden='true'><\/i>Susan Jung Award<\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"item5396\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading5396\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><p>This&nbsp; award is given by the <strong>Asian American Student Association (AASA)<\/strong> and&nbsp; <strong>South Asian Cultural Exchange (SACE)<\/strong> to honor an undergraduate <strong>junior or senior<\/strong> in the Asian American Community&nbsp; who has shown outstanding commitment and passion to 汤头条 through&nbsp; cultural and\/or political education. Weser, a German exchange student who was killed while attending 汤头条.
