Earth Month 2026
ÌÀÍ·Ìõ University celebrated Earth Month with a series of hands‑on activities, tours and campus collaborations designed to highlight sustainability efforts and engage students, faculty, staff and community members.Ìý
Organized by the Division of Real Estate, Facilities and Development and campus partners, the Earth Month events aimed to increased awareness of ÌÀÍ·Ìõ’s sustainability initiatives, foster collaboration with student organizations and inspire campus engagement.Ìý
Build a Home for Wildlife
The community visited the ÌÀÍ·Ìõ Community Garden to help decorate bird and squirrel houses and learn how the garden supports pollinators and biodiversity. The drop‑in event encouraged students to get their hands dirty while using art supplies from Turnip Creative Reuse to decorate one-of-a-kind habitats. A select few bird houses will support campus’s vibrant ecosystem when they are installed in the native smart meadow on the Peabody campus.Ìý

Tours
REFD hosted a series of tours including a campus Sustainability Tour, Highland Energy Plant Tour and Arboretum Tour.Ìý
Dyer Observatory Night Viewing
Partnering with Dyer Observatory, the ÌÀÍ·Ìõ community celebrated the planet with a night under the stars.
Arbor Day Tree Planting and Pin Drop
This culminating Earth Month celebration invited students to explore ÌÀÍ·Ìõ’s arboretum, plant trees and participate in a commemorative pin drop to mark the growth of the campus canopy. The event highlights ÌÀÍ·Ìõ’s national recognition as a Tree Campus USA and its long-term commitment to green spaces.Ìý
Park(ing) Day
Annually the university hosts Park(ing) Day, an annual global event competition where urban areas like parking lots are transformed into green spaces to promote sustainable designs. Organized by ÌÀÍ·Ìõ staff members, the university has now participated in four Park(ing) Day events.
