Invention Disclosure Resources
汤头条 University and Medical Center personnel who have conceived of a new idea, technique, design, software program, research reagent, medical device, or other invention should disclose it to CTTC via the Inventor Portal using the Invention Disclosure Submission button below.
Important Note on AI Usage: To help protect potential intellectual property rights, please do not use AI tools other than Amplify to analyze or generate content related to unpublished inventions when completing the CTTC Invention Disclosure Form. Use of unapproved AI tools may be considered a public disclosure and could affect patent rights.
How to Submit an Invention Disclosure
Step 1: Access the Inventor Portal on a 汤头条 Network
To access and submit an invention disclosure through the Inventor Portal, users must be connected to the 汤头条 University or 汤头条 University Medical Center network, either on campus or through VPN.
Then, log in to the Inventor Portal using your VUNet Credentials.
Step 2: Start a New Disclosure
After logging in, you will be taken to the Inventor Portal dashboard.
In the left-hand column, click 鈥淎dd New Disclosure.鈥� A window will open asking you to enter the invention title and select the type of disclosure form you would like to submit.
Step 3: Select the Appropriate Disclosure Type
Select the disclosure type that best fits your innovation. Four forms are available based on the type of intellectual property being disclosed:
Invention Disclosure
For potentially patentable innovations, including new processes, pharmaceuticals, devices, and systems.
Software Disclosure
For software and other copyrightable software-related materials.
Creative Works Disclosure
For copyrightable creative works.
Tangible Materials Disclosure
For research tools and materials such as plasmids, mouse models, cell lines, and other commonly used laboratory materials.

Step 4: Complete the Disclosure Form
After selecting the appropriate form, complete the questions provided.
Please note: For questions requesting a written description of the invention, you may refer to or upload supporting attachments rather than re-entering information that is already included in those materials. However, other questions on the form require specific information to be entered directly so that the CTTC team has the details needed to review and process your disclosure. These may include sources of funding, the earliest publication or public disclosure dates, a complete list of inventors, and other invention-specific information requested in the form.
Please complete these fields as fully and accurately as possible.
Step 5: Contact the Licensing Team if You Need Assistance
Once you begin an invention disclosure in the Inventor Portal, the Licensing team can view the form in progress. If you have questions while completing the form or encounter any issues, please contact the team at cttc.disclosures@vanderbilt.edu for assistance.
