Research Interests:聽The Samuels group uses computational methods for research on mitochondrial biology and disease. These methods range from biochemical simulations to genetic sequence analysis to clinical data analysis. We collaborate with clinicians and wet-lab biologists. Our group is applying full-sequence analysis methods to determine the role of mitochondrial DNA variations on various diseases. These include the toxicity of HIV drugs, neurodegenerative diseases, and other phenotypes.
