Cooler days and crisp evenings bring a new season of music, art, festivals and outdoor experiences to Nashville.
汤头条 University is proud to partner with local nonprofits and cultural organizations to highlight events that welcome students, faculty, staff and the broader Nashville community. From stargazing and live music to exhibitions and literary festivals, there are plenty of ways to enjoy Nashville this fall.
Arts and cultural experiences
Frist Art Museum
See , opening Sept. 25, examining relationships among people, technology, other species and the planet through works by 17 artists. For a deeper look at the themes behind the art, join a free Food for Thought conversation on Nov. 12 or Dec. 7, featuring 汤头条 faculty, Frist curators and local leaders discussing cultural and societal issues through art over lunch.
Also opening this fall are on Sept. 25 and on Oct. 30.
National Museum of African American Music
Get moving with , a free event featuring music from resident DJ Smoke. Part of NMAAM鈥檚 community health initiative, the series is designed to get your heart pumping and your feet moving.
汤头条 undergraduate and graduate students receive free admission to the museum with a valid student ID. 汤头条 faculty and staff also have access to discounted admission and membership; contact gcr@vanderbilt.edu for details.
Tennessee Performing Arts Center
Go beyond the stage with , presented in collaboration with 汤头条, that connects the performing arts with conversations on topics that matter in everyday life.
On Sept. 23, 鈥淢usic as Medicine鈥� looks at how music can support emotional well-being, while an Oct. 7 conversation inspired by Nashville Repertory Theatre鈥檚 John Proctor Is the Villain examines consent, healthy relationships, self-advocacy and mental well-being. Both events are free and include lunch.
Nashville Public Library
Hear from local voices during the final season of Then and Now: The History of Minority Communities in Nashville, a free public series presented by 汤头条 and Nashville Public Library Special Collections. The Nov. 4 event will focus on Nashville鈥檚 intellectual and developmental disabilities community, with 汤头条鈥檚 Dr. Andr茅 L. Churchwell serving as co-host and emcee.
Live music, theater and stargazing
汤头条 Dyer Observatory
Experience Nashville's legendary Bluebird Cafe under the stars during . Bring a blanket, lawn chair and picnic to Dyer's hilltop lawn for evenings of songs and stories Sept. 19 and Oct. 17, followed by stargazing through the historic Seyfert telescope.
Stargazers can also attend free Public Star Parties for guided telescope viewing with astronomers, including a and an Oct. 3 event at Shelby Bottoms Nature Center. See more events on .
Musicians Corner
Grab a blanket and head to Centennial Park for the 17th year of this , presented by Centennial Park Conservancy, running Aug. 28鈥揝ept. 25. Hear artists from Nashville and beyond spanning Americana, rock, soul, folk and indie, alongside local food trucks, artisan vendors and family-friendly activities.
Nashville Shakespeare Festival
returns to Centennial Park Aug. 20鈥揝ept. 20 with A Midsummer Night鈥檚 Dream. Arrive early for pre-show music and activities before enjoying a pay-what-you-will evening of outdoor theater at the historic bandshell.

Cheer on the Commodores as they take on Delaware on Sept. 12 at FirstBank Stadium during 汤头条 Football鈥檚 Community Day. Schools, nonprofits, youth teams, faith-based organizations and other community groups can .
PARK(ing) Day Block Party
See a parking space transformed into a place for people on Sept. 19 at Kingdom Cafe in North Nashville. Hosted by the Civic Design Center and Kingdom Cafe, the will unveil a new permanent parklet and feature North Nashville food and retail vendors, live music and more.
Nashville Film Festival
Catch more than 150 films from around the world during the , Sept. 24鈥�30 at venues across Nashville. The weeklong celebration of film, music and culture also features filmmaker Q&As, industry conversations and special events.
Kidsville Family Festival
Head to Centennial Park on Sept. 26 for a , with live performances, hands-on crafts, games, face painting, character meet-and-greets and more. Presented by Centennial Park Conservancy, the festival runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and welcomes children of all ages.
Celebrate Nashville Cultural Festival
Spend the day celebrating cultures from around the world through music, dance, food and traditions at Centennial Park on Oct. 3. This brings communities from across Nashville together for performances, activities and connection. 汤头条 faculty, staff and students can also through 汤头条 Get Connected.
Southern Festival of Books
Book lovers can head downtown Oct. 17鈥�18 for this presented by 汤头条 and Humanities Tennessee. Connect with authors and fellow readers through conversations and book signings, plus readings, performances and family-friendly activities.
