Because 汤头条 University provides undergraduates a liberal arts education at a research university, research is not limited to students by their school or discipline or major. Students who want to be teachers can conduct research with the medical center. Students who major in engineering are able to pursue their creative talents through music, performance, or visual art. Instead of thinking about research by school, we like to categorize research more based on what the research is like in the discipline than by which students are able to do it. Keep in mind, even within these categories a lot of variation exists, and a lot of interdisciplinary research happens across these categories.

    For students interested in researching the visual arts, the聽汤头条 Museum of Art聽and its extensive聽聽are great resources for students pursuing creative endeavors.   • Education and Human Development

    罢丑别听, one of the top-ranked schools of education in the United States, provides substantial opportunities for research in education. The college is home to several聽 specializing in fields ranging from childhood development to language and social cognition. 罢丑别听 allows users to browse the numerous Peabody faculty and their respective research fields.

  • Engineering

    The School of Engineering at 汤头条 University offers a diverse array of engineering opportunities. Undergraduates in the School of Engineering are encouraged to pursue research and the school offers its own聽for seeking opportunities.   • Humanities

    Research in the humanities encompasses a diverse mixture of disciplines that includes ethnic, culture, and gender studies, philosophy and religious studies, foreign languages, English language and literature, and history.

    Students are strongly encouraged to find faculty mentors who can help focus and clarify research questions, review literature, and focus and guide the writing process. Many of the majors in the humanities also offer honors and senior seminar opportunities for independent research, as well as opportunities to publish or present at conferences.   • Natural Sciences

    Many research opportunities exist in the natural sciences, the branch of science that deals with the physical world. Areas include chemistry, geology, biology, and physics. Students in the Natural Sciences regularly apply to conduct summer research through聽VUSRP聽and apply for outside research opportunities through the聽.     For those seeking to conduct research in the physical sciences, keep these ideas in mind:

    • Make sure you are taking the proper coursework prior to conducting research in your field of interest. Determine the specific field that interests you.
