At the Computational Engineering of Molecules Lab, we combine computational modeling, artificial intelligence, structural biology, and experimental validation to engineer proteins and design next-generation therapeutics. Our work spans vaccines against viral and bacterial pathogens, antibody and nanobody engineering, and protein-based therapeutics for infectious disease, cancer and other diseases. We integrate established molecular modeling methods with emerging deep-learning approaches for protein structure, sequence, and interaction design.
The CEM lab currently leads computational and multidisciplinary efforts within the ARPA-H APECx program to develop broadly protective vaccines against alphaviruses. In parallel, we are working toward the development of a universal influenza vaccine through a project supported by the NIH NIAID. We are also interested in understanding how viruses interact with host receptors and leveraging these insights to design therapeutics that prevent or disrupt infection, a project sponsored by ARPA-H EVOLVE program.
